Saturday · Sitting with Our Lady
“Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.”
— Luke 2:19
Scripture Reading
Holy Saturday is the day between death and resurrection — the day when Mary held the faith of the entire Church alone. The disciples had fled. The tomb was sealed. And Mary waited. Not in despair, but in a pondering silence that the Church has never fully understood — only admired. This is Mary's gift: the capacity to say yes and to keep saying yes, even in the dark.
Reflection
Saturday belongs to Our Lady. In a world addicted to noise, resolution, and explanation, Mary shows us another way: contemplative trust. She does not demand an account from God. She receives. She ponders. She holds the inexplicable in her heart without forcing it open. As parishioners of Our Lady Queen of Peace, we are called to this same posture — not passive resignation, but active, prayerful trust, surrendered to the God who is always working.
A Prayer for Today
Mary, Queen of Peace, Queen of our parish — we come to you today. Intercede for us, for our families, for our parish community, and for the peace of our city of Jos. Teach us your silence. Teach us your yes. Hold us all under your mantle, and bring us safely to your Son.
