Saturday · With Our Lady

“Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.”

— Luke 2:19

Reflection

Saturday belongs to Mary. In the stillness between the cross and the resurrection, she held the faith of the Church. When the disciples fled, she remained. Her pondering heart — the heart that received an impossible annunciation and said yes — is the model for our own. Come to Our Lady today. Give her your Saturday.

A Prayer for Today

Mary, Queen of Peace, intercede for our parish, for our families, and for Jos. Teach me your silence, your patience, your undivided yes to God. Hold us all under your mantle today.

“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.”

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.”

John 14:27
Our Story

A Home of Peace
in the Heart of Jos

For more than four decades, Our Lady Queen of Peace has been a place of refuge and rejoicing for the faithful of Gold and Base. What began as a small mission station has grown into a vibrant parish family — gathered around the altar and entrusted to the intercession of our patroness.

We are a community shaped by the Eucharist and sent out in service — catechising the young, accompanying families, and reaching the poor at our gates. Whether you are returning home or visiting for the first time, you belong here.

The Seven
Sacraments

Channels of grace instituted by Christ, celebrated through the life of the parish. Speak with a priest to begin preparation for any of them.

“The sacraments are forces that come out of the Body of Christ, which is ever-living and life-giving.”

— Catechism of the Catholic Church

Entry into the life of Christ and His Church. Parents should register at the parish office; baptismal preparation for parents and godparents is held on the first Saturday of each month.

The sealing with the Holy Spirit. Candidates join the two-year catechesis programme; the sacrament is conferred annually by the Archbishop during his pastoral visit.

The source and summit of our faith. First Holy Communion classes run through the catechetical year, culminating in a parish celebration during Eastertide.

Confessions are heard on Wednesdays at 5:00 PM and Saturdays at 10:00 AM, or by appointment with one of the parish priests at any reasonable hour.

For the seriously ill, the aged, and those preparing for surgery. Please notify the parish office so a priest may visit the sick at home or in hospital.

Couples should meet a priest at least six months before the intended date. Marriage preparation and required documentation are arranged through the office.

Those discerning a vocation to the priesthood or religious life are warmly encouraged to speak with the parish priest or the vocations director of the Archdiocese.
